Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information RP CRIMEDGE REVIEW CENTER collects through the RP CrimEdge Review Center website and mobile app, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We handle personal data in accordance with the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173).

1. Who we are

RP CRIMEDGE REVIEW CENTER (RYAN ERPELO PONCE — PROPRIETOR) is a professional and licensure review services business registered in the Philippines, with its place of business at Poblacion, Aringay, La Union. We are the personal information controller for the data described in this policy.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Account information

When you register we collect your name and email address, and we store a securely hashed version of your password. We never store your password in readable form. If you choose “Continue with Google”, Google provides us your name, email address and Google account identifier so we can create or sign you into your account; we do not receive your Google password.

2.2 Device information (device binding)

Access to paid review material is limited to one mobile device and one laptop/PC per student to prevent account sharing. To enforce this we store a device identifier generated for your installation, the device type, a short device label, and the dates the device was registered and last seen. We do not use this to track you across other apps or websites, and it is not used for advertising.

2.3 Learning activity

So you can resume where you left off and see your progress, we record your video watch position and completion, document page progress, bookmarks and highlights, your notes, and your exam and quiz attempts including the answers you selected, your scores, and which topics you find difficult. Your instructors and the review centre’s administrators can see this activity for the purpose of supporting your review.

2.4 Subscription and payment information

When you purchase a subscription we record which plan you bought, the amount, the date, and the payment reference returned by our payment provider. Payments are processed by PayMongo on their own hosted checkout page. We never see or store your card number, CVV, or GCash credentials — those are entered directly with PayMongo. Where you pay manually, any proof of payment you upload is stored so an administrator can verify it.

2.5 Technical information

We use a session cookie to keep you signed in; this is strictly necessary for the service to work. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which may include your IP address, for security and troubleshooting. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

3. How we use your information

  • To create and administer your account and sign you in.
  • To deliver the review videos, materials and exam simulators your subscription or assignment gives you access to.
  • To save your progress and show you your performance, weak areas and achievements.
  • To process subscription payments and issue the invoice and payment receipt required of us.
  • To notify you about new material, payment confirmations and similar service updates.
  • To protect paid content from unauthorised sharing, through device binding.
  • To comply with our legal, tax and accounting obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

4. Who we share it with

We share personal data only where it is necessary:

  • PayMongo — to process your payment and confirm it succeeded.
  • Google — only if you choose Google sign-in, to verify your identity.
  • Our hosting provider — which stores the data on our behalf.
  • Our lecturers and administrators — who can see your learning activity in order to teach and support you.
  • Government authorities — where we are legally required to disclose information, for example for tax purposes.

5. Content protection

Our review material is licensed to you for your personal study only. To protect it, the app may display your name or email as a watermark over protected content, and it blocks screenshots and screen recording while such content is on screen. Material you download for offline use is encrypted on your device and is removed when you sign out.

6. How long we keep it

We keep your account and learning records for as long as your account is active, so your progress is not lost between subscriptions. Financial records — invoices and payment receipts — are retained for the period required by Philippine tax law. If you ask us to delete your account, we will delete your personal data except records we are legally required to keep.

7. Your rights

Under the Data Privacy Act you have the right to be informed, and to access, correct, object to the processing of, or request the erasure or blocking of your personal data. You may also ask for a copy of your data and complain to the National Privacy Commission. You can change your name and password in the app at any time, or contact us using the details below and we will respond within a reasonable period.

8. Children

Our service is intended for criminology students and graduates preparing for a licensure examination, and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will remove it.

9. Security

Passwords are stored only as secure hashes, traffic between your device and our servers is encrypted with HTTPS, offline downloads are encrypted at rest, and access to student data is restricted by role. No system can be guaranteed completely secure, but we take reasonable and appropriate measures to protect your information.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date above will change, and significant changes will be communicated in the app.
